Marine Security Leader’s Video and Tracking Systems Lead to Recovery of Intrepid 375

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – GOST® (Global Ocean Security Technologies), celebrating its 10th year as a world leader in marine security, tracking, monitoring and video surveillance systems, announced today that the GOST NT-Evolution 2.0 and GOST Watch HD tracking and surveillance systems were instrumental in the speedy recovery of the Lumitec demo boat Progression – a 2015 Intrepid 375.

“We’d brought Progression to our R&D/manufacturing facility to get it ready for IBEX, which will occur next week, October 4th thru 6th, in Tampa. I got up around 4:00 a.m.
on Saturday morning, to text alerts on my phone from the GOST system that the geofence had been breached meaning the boat had been moved. I immediately logged in to the GOST tracking interface, only to be sickened by the breadcrumb trail of the thieves heading South,” said John Kujawa, president, Lumitec.

Progression was equipped with the gost-system-instrumental-in-retrieval-of-stolen-lumitec-demonstration-boat-3NT-Evolution 2.0 marine-grade, water-resistant, wireless security, monitoring and tracking system. It is designed to defend oceangoing vessels and any other asset that requires a ruggedized, water resistant security, monitoring and tracking system. The vessel also had installed a GOST Watch HD remote surveillance system, which captures video when motion is detected while the system is armed. The free GOST Watch HD app allows boat owners to view onboard cameras remotely via smartphone or tablet with an easy-to-use secure interface. In the event of motion detection or other user-specified events, the system can record snapshots and video clips to the GOST Watch website, and send text messages or emails with embedded video to designated recipients. Users can also log in to the website and app to view these files, as well as watch live streaming video from a vessel.

“I immediately called the local police. While waiting for them, I logged into the GOST WATCH portal and found the entire event captured in high-definition video. Although  painful to watch, it really was incredible.” continued Kujawa. “We quickly posted the GOST Watch video of the theft in-progress on various boating websites. I think that because the image quality was so good and the video was so compelling, it just went viral. I was shocked at how quickly this spread. Seeing it all happen in near-broadcast quality instead of grainy pixels seems to have really made it personal to a lot of fellow boaters. I received dozens of emails and texts from throughout the state and beyond – even in the Bahamas – from people who jumped into action, spreading the word of the theft.”

Our boat had been stashed behind a motel near the airport, when I pulled up to the location, I couldn’t believe it – there she was! I don’t think there is any way we would have gotten this boat back so quickly without the GOST systems. The initial alert gave us a several-hour head start on our search. We knew the direction the thieves were heading, where and when they stopped, and what they did. In addition, we captured excellent video and other evidence that will be invaluable to authorities in a prosecution.”

“This is the part of the job that makes it all worthwhile,” said Jay Keenan, president and CEO, GOST. “Of course, we are proud of producing quality products. But we were personally involved in the installation of this system and felt heartbroken when it went missing. That it was recovered so quickly is a testament to the importance of high quality video and tracking information that can be disseminated to help in the search. All of us at GOST are absolutely thrilled about this happy ending.”
