Marine Security Leader Provides Alternative to AT&T Clients Anticipating Shutdown of 2G Network
Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – GOST® (Global Ocean Security Technologies), a world leader in marine security, tracking, monitoring and video surveillance systems, announced today that it has partnered with T-Mobile and has developed a solution for its customers who will be affected by AT&T’s impending phase out of 2G service in the U.S, over the next eight months. GOST Phantom security systems include a built-in 2G (GSM/GPRS) module and require this network to provide voice and text alerts from GOST Phantom, Insight HD and NT-Evolution 2.0 systems.
Globally and domestically, 2G networks from other providers will remain a dominant GSM frequency band for many years to come. GOST has developed solutions to the AT&T 2G Sunset for both new and existing customers. In cooperation with T-Mobile, which is adding capacity to its existing 2G network, GOST is including a 2G module with all units and T-Mobile SIM Cards with all units shipped domestically.
GOST customers who currently use AT&T as their service provider for their GOST Phantom, Insight HD and NT-Evolution 2.0 Systems can simply go to www.gostglobal.com/tmobile, select the AT&T replacement service and a new T-Mobile SIM Card will be sent to them. For GOST customers, there is no required contract. GOST has negotiated extremely low rates for both the 2G (GSM/GPRS) replacement service as well as for 4G LTE data service used by GOST Watch HD or Insight HD surveillance cameras for streaming of video.
Customers who wish to remain with AT&T as their service provider can contact AT&T and convert their current plan over to the AT&T Wireless Home Phone Device. This is a free upgrade with a two-year AT&T service agreement. These customers will only be able to receive voice calls from the Phantom unit since the ability to send and receive text messages is a feature that is built into the internal 2G (GSM/GPRS) communication module inside the Phantom. The AT&T Wireless Home Phone Device does not feature text messaging or roaming capabilities, and will only work on AT&T’s network.
“Our customers trust us to safeguard their property, and communication is the foundation of this trust,” said Jay Keenan, president and CEO of GOST. “We want our clients to be confident with their security systems and we are committed to assisting them in avoiding any potential interruption of service before it happens. Eighty percent of security transmission devices use 2G; thus we have to educate our customers about the future of this technology. GOST is dedicated to providing the highest quality products and greatest level of service possible. This includes finding alternatives when there are technology changes and insuring those alternatives are easy to install, cost effective and potentially more functional than what is being replaced.”
